Auto save or reminder of log out

I often lose data because I stepped away from my desk or get interrupted and then forget to save my work. Upon return I find the system logged out. A couple of ideas that might help..

1. Do not log me out so quickly (or allow me to stay logged in)
2. Send a notification when I'm about the be logged out
3. Build an auto-save function so I do not have to worry about being logged out.
